We all knew Harrison Ford was in Cowboys & Aliens , and would be on set . But a corporate thud of diary keeper jaws could be heard attain the debris as Ford strolled out donning boots and a vest with a gun at his side ( classic Han Solo wear ) . So naturally we could n’t help attack C&A producer Bob Orci with possibly the most important question ever to be ask of this movie . Will Harrison Ford shoot first in this film ? Orci smiled and affirm that there is a “ shoot first moment . ” Then laughed and notice , “ We ’re gon na situate that . ” So “ Han Shot First ” fan , this second is for you .
The big bad in Cowboys & Aliens is more biological xenomorph monster, less robot… but mainly CG
Sterile alien fans , we ’re sorry , the extraterrestrials in Cowboys & Aliens ’ are much more terrifying monster a la Starship Troopers , and a lot less Gort . Favreau confirmed that the wolf are in fact biologic , and “ more in the custom of like Alien and Predator . [ Which ] allows you [ to ] create the biology of the alien that feels the most atrocious and experience it [ out ] tardily over the trend of the moving-picture show , as opposed to just form these column of aliens march … ” But be sure , these love child are not friendly , both Orci and Favreau want to make that very clear .
Don’t expect Kang and Kodos to pop up and answer all your alien questions.
Favreau continued utter about the “ alien invaders in the old West ” plot line . With out give too much away , he excuse that the aliens ’ plot of ground will have an internal logic to it , and thing will be deduct , much like in Aliens . Although Favreau specifically stated not to be looking for an account from the monsters themselves . “ We have an internal logical system to it . But definitely … it ’s not like you ’re going to be cutting to the bridge of the exotic ship like in the “ Treehouse of Horror ” [ Laughs ] . It ’s more like – you may infer certain things . Again , to me once of the good lesson is Alien . There was a logic to it , but the way it unfolded , you did n’t really jazz it . And there was enough logic to it that you could admit it . But all I knew when I watched it is , Oh , my God , what ’s that ? There ’s eggs , it ’s on his face , it ’s come out of his stomach , and they ’re all over the place , you ca n’t kill them ; they have acid blood . Those were things that were pulled together , say what they were colonise … “ And although we have quite a bit of CG – I like the way they told tale before – before you could show everything with CG . And it was a real unveiling of the fauna , little by piddling , and using lighting and photographic camera work and euphony to make it a very subjective experience . And so we tried to preserve that here . ”
They know you think the title is silly, and that’s a good thing.
When asked about the obvious nature of the title of respect and some of the world ’s comic reaction to it , Orci was fine with it — in fact , he almost welcomed the world-wide snicker at the credit of Cowboys & Aliens even though the motion picture is n’t a comedy . “ We tend to handle these things like a cause , ” Orci excuse . “ And you do n’t want to be the front runner up front . So receive a title that people snigger at is actually not a horrendous matter , because when they happen out what it really is , it actually oblige them to discuss it and to say , ‘ It ’s not what you call up . ’ As counterbalance to – you do n’t want to be Hillary Clinton a class out , you know . You desire to be Obama a year out … We ’ve been through this before . We ’ve been through it with Transformers , where they thought it was – whatever you think of the movie – is it a cartoon , is it the Power Rangers ? And then you see a trailer for it and you realize it ’s amaze a different shell and a dissimilar theme to it . It ’s the same thing with this . I think Iron Man go away through a similar thing . ‘ Oh , it ’s a B grade , superhero . ’ Then when you see it , so – we like coming from behind , and having the form of address change in your perception . ”
Steven Spielberg schooled Favreau and Orci on Westerns and scifi before production.
So many sentence you hear a big name bind to a project as a producer , but you never get a sense that they were necessitate . Not the face for Steven Spielberg ’s involvement on C&A. In fact when he was n’t comparing his preceding exotic proficiency on ET and helping the crew find a new an advanced way to produce new aliens , he was screening classic Westerns for Orci and Favreau , asOrci recite us at SDCC . “ [ Spielberg ] even did commentary in the theater with us , ” Orci revealed . “ He got a new print of The Searchers , and he took me and Jon and Alex [ Kurtzman ] and Damon to the Warner Brothers Theater . It was just a DVD commentary live , with Spielberg behind us . ‘ Where ’s the purview ? Why do you think the horizon is there ? What is the horizon ’s relationship to the actor mean about the fit ? ’ You know , just – and we ’re taking notes . ” So what did Orci learn ? “ To be cautious of what you ’re trying to say with your frame , you know . We have a slap-up environs here . So – and in a way , any Western tends to be about how your – one component is dealing with nature . Aliens are another facet of nature . And so how you move through the movie , and where you are in sexual intercourse to nature – are you up against it ? Are you down against it ? Are you advance ? Are you fall back ? Is it beating you ? Or are you beating it ? That becomes a conscious thing that ’s subliminal to the consultation , but it still impact how you feel about the transition . Because in a way , this is a road movie , too . They ’re locomote across to get to what they need to get to . And so how the surroundings changes and how they exchange in relation to it was , you lie with , a great moral from that solar day . ” So there you have it . A minuscule bit of free movie - pass water advice from Spielberg .
Be on the look out for the classic staples from both Westerns and Alien Invasions, but with a genre mash-up twist.

It’s not just a blend of Westerns and Scifi, it’s also mixing in the alien wonderment films, darkness, invasion stories and the lone rider tale.

John Wayne’s legacy lives on amongst the alien invaders.

Admit it , it ’s kind of nice when the moving-picture show makers are just focused on stool the film in front of them .
