Jankowski , who was ready to give birth to her girl in nearby St. Luke ’s Hospital , had spent the last day with venial contractions . She knew her consequence was coming , so she stressed over her inability to take a simple shower .

As a mum who ’s committed to community of interests involvement , she and her neighbors work to mold a local environmental group , Toledoans for Safe Water . This week , they succeeded inpassing a voteto develop the Lake Erie Bill of Rights Charter Amendment that acknowledge the lake ’s right “ to exist , flourish , and naturally evolve , ” asdescribedby the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund ( CELDF ) , which partnered with Toledo residents to secure this especial election . While similar natural law recognizing the intrinsic right of ecosystems have passed inColombia , New Zealand , andIndia , this is the first of its kind in the United States .
