Electronic Arts has a lot to crow about today, revealing that pre-orders for the hungrily awaitedBattlefield 3have topped 1.5 million. For those who aren’t good at math, rest assured that it’s a really big number!

Back when the pre-order figures sat at 1.25 million, it was already dwarfing the numbers forBattlefield: Bad Company 2. With another 250,000 downpayments since then, it looks like the “military” shooter genre indeed has the most serious competitor we’ve had in years.
