The throwable weapon will ricochet back into your Multiplayer matches.

Call of Duty’s latest multiplayer gameplay reveal has confirmed the inclusion of an iconic melee. A series staple, Tomahawk will be making its return to the battlefield in Black Ops 6. And with the added spice of omnimovement, Tomahawk trick shots will get a whole new dimension.

Tomahawk - Black Ops 6 brings back a classic

Black Ops 6’s development and features so far have been alove letter to the classicCall of Duty games we all grew up playing. And the inclusion of the Tomahawk in the game’s first multiplayer gameplay reveal is no different. Standing alongside the Classic Prestige system and a revamped Gunsmith, the Tomahawk is the game’s classic Lethal Equipment.

The Tomahawk has made its mark, in one form or another, in every Black Ops game. The melee first made it’s appearance all the way back in 2010. Similar to the throwing knife from Modern Warfare 2 (not the 2022 MWII), the Tomahawk resulted in an instant kill upon hit. But unlike it’s counterpart, the Tomahawk always bounces off walls and floors, making ricochet kills possible. When used in the Sticks and Stones wager mode, the Tomahawk could bankrupt players in a single hit.

Subsequently, the weapon has made a return in Black Ops: Declassified and Black Ops: Cold War. Meanwhile for Black Ops II/III/4, its counterpart, the “Combat Axe” was included. The only significant difference between the two was the latter’s automatic pickup.

The Trickshot masterpiece gains a new edge

Tomahawk’s cultural impact on Black Ops can not be understated. Searching for Call of Duty Tomahawk kills on YouTube resultsin over 4 Million highlight videos. That’s thanks to it’s incredibly satisfying one-shots, and the exhilirating ricochet kills, popularly known as a “Bank shot”

Omnimovemnt + Tomahawk = Black Ops 6 Montages

New to the Tomahawk trickshot this year is the introduction of Omnimovement. Call of Duty’s latest movement innovation has the potential to shake up multiplayer matches across the board. According to the devs, Omnimovement is a “holistic approach to redefining what Black Ops 6 movement really means.”

The movement tech allows players to sprint, slide and dash in any direction. Coming from a classic-FPS background, this development is an example of developers embracing the virtual nature of video games, and not limiting themselves to what’s humanly possible. Fittingly, themultiplayer revealshows an operator dodging a Tomahawk by sliding backward. With Omnimovement baked into the game, Black Ops 6 will surely get countless new Tomahawk kills that will push the skill ceiling.

So are you ready to ricochet to win? Maybe start practicing those slide-cancels for the Omni-movement future. And stay tuned to esports.gg for thelatest Call of Duty news and updates.
