No matter what happens to all the single characters in this week’sGuardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 , it set the end of an era for Marvel Studios . James Gunn , one of the filmmakers who helped bring the MCU to a whole new level with the first Guardians , is leaving — andif you believe everything you see and read , some of the actor who impersonate those character will be leaving too .
Now , does that reflect what actually happen in the motion-picture show ? Justbecause Dave Bautista says Drax is done , does the movie necessarily make that clear in some way ? We ’ll have to waitress and see . The same goes for Chris Pratt and Star - Lord . In a new interview , Pratt discusses the potential of continuing the fibre without Gunn at the helm — but does that sentiment ascertain Star - Lord is even around by the remainder of the film ? settle for yourself .
“ It would be strange to continue Peter ’s story without James , ” Pratt toldGamesRadar . “ He ’s done such a virtuoso Book of Job in the first three photographic film . We really found the phonation of Peter Quill together and without him , manifestly , I would never have had this opportunity . He write it , he directs it , he stargaze up the euphony , it ’s his imagination on screen . So , to persist in to tell the tale , it would really be significant to honor what he ’s done in the first three films and to honor what the fans have grow to love about the character and not simply do it because people might show up to pay for it , you know ? ”

“ I do n’t want to be cynical in the approach path and if that ’s the case , I just would n’t do it at all , ” Pratt carry on . “ So maybe down the road if something makes gumption I would do it but it would really have to check a raft of the right box . ”
Which is a very farseeing fashion of saying , if Star - Lord comes out of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 unhurt , Pratt is undecided to returning . And yet , is n’t talk over this at all feel like a spoiler ? Does n’t it find like he ’s order people off the olfactory property a second ? Like he ’s say this because he wo n’t really have to account for it ?
The answers will be base this weekend when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 hits theaters . And then , maybe , Star - Lord will return without his captain , James Gunn .
