Best Phainon build
Phainon is quite a selfish unit. He demandsinvestmentin the form of good Relics and Trace levels. On the bright side, though, it’s not hard to build a team around him. This is thanks to hisUltimate, which disregards his entire party.
Phainon Trace priority
You should prioritize raising hisSkillabove anything else. The rest: hisBasic Attack, Talent, and Ultimate, can follow after.
Phainon build: Relic Set and Planetary Set
Wavestrider Captain
Most of the time, you want Wavestrider Captain on Phainon. The ATK buff that the set gives after he casts Ultimate will be active all throughout, since all of the “turns” inside his Ultimate are only considered as one turn.
Arcadia of Woven Dreams
Your Planetary Set should be Arcadia of Woven Dreams. He gets the full buff while he is in his Ultimate state, since he is considered alone.
Phainon Light Cones
Best-in-slot and Signature Light Cone: Thus Burns the Dawn
Phainon’s best Light Cone choice is Thus Burns the Dawn. It gives him a lot of ATK, a DEF ignore, and boosts his DMG while he is ulted. This Light Cone is tailor-made for him, but it isn’t a necessity.
Best F2P option: On the Fall of an Aeon
This is a solid choice for a lot of Destruction units, and Phainon is no exception. He gets a lot of value from the DMG buff since buffs do not time out while he is in his Ultimate state.
Best Phainon teams
By default, Phainon does not require a healer/sustain party member. Your usual rotation with him would be to load him with buffs right before he uses his Ultimate, then rinse and repeat until all enemies have been wiped out.
Taking this into consideration, this means you may bring three support units. You can also opt for one sub-DPS unit, then two support units.
While this should be enough for most content in the game (including end-game stages, depending on how well-built your characters are), you’re able to still consider bringing a sustain unit like Huohuo or Gallagher.
