Whether you prefer your superheroes consume with despair ( yeah , we see you over there in the shadows , Batman ) or you prefer your superheroes a little more sunny ( and we see you in the shadow right behind him , Lego Batman ) , it can be a pretty gloomy life — even if we miss it the first clock time around .
Whilediscussing the new spate of superhero moviesheaded our way , commenterfalconflyer1wondered if — despite the inclination away towards superheroes who could well list brooding as one of their superintendent - skills — we were n’t still seeing some of the darkest superhero movies yet . You know , Marvel flick have always had a muckle of lightness and humor and definitely not as dark as some of the darkness obsessed films from other studio . They seem to be going a little bit darker now though . That could be good or high-risk . One of the best things about the Avengers was how the humors was in it regardless of the tough thing that were go on . Everyone in the theater laughed at the “ puny god ” moment even though at that point the disaster was still going on and if this was a Chris Nolan or Zack Snyder movie it would have seemed like the biggest present moment of despair .
I suppose Avengers : Age of Ultron got me more mad and gave me more goosebumps than any moving picture in recent memory . However I ’m seeing a short bit of a vogue here . Superhero motion-picture show generally cease with affair being generally better off than they were before . The Heron is inviolable , more fledged , learned a valuable object lesson , etc . The villain is weak , deader , more underground , etc . However , start I opine with The Winter Soldier , we ’re seeing a different tendency . Half the movie was essentially taking down the organization we had been rooting for throughout Phase 1 . Their victory was make up affair not as unfit as they could have been . Age of Ultron looks so exciting but ultimately cheerless and dark . Iron Man 3 was the least hopeful of all of them . If you had asked me in advance I would have say I would n’t like them , but I be intimate them in the moment .
But other commenters pointed out that the more equivocal profits that we were project our fighter able-bodied to chalk up could just as easy be chalked up to the rise of the superhero movie series — and the increase number of loose end that it encouraged :
