Riot Games apparently had to fight for the new name of their TCG, Riftbound.
Riot Games' tabletop card game (TCG), previously known as “Project K,” finally has a name! It’s called Riftbound, and you may get to try it sometime during the year. See the latest updates on Riftbound and how you’re able to play it here.

A video posted by Riot revealed the name and many details about the game.
Apparently, an Australia-based indie game studio had already used the nameRiftboundfor a game. According to Riot Games game director Dave Guskin, they had to meet with the studio, Barrel Smash Studios. “We fell in love with the name Riftbound as it evokes Summoner’s Rift, captures a sense of playful action that we see in the game, and it’s extremely catchy and concise,” said Guskin. “They generously took the time to meet with us to hear our game vision, listened to why we loved the name of Riftbound so much, and agreed to transition the Riftbound name to us. We look forward to bringing Riftbound into the TCG and League of Legends community by getting decks into the hands of players later this year.”

What we know about Riftbound
It will have 1v1, 2v2, and free-for-all formats. The debut set is called “Origins,” and will launch with over 300 cards. Origins will have pre-constructed decks for “classic” champions Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin.
These pre-constructed decks have 56 cards and are composed of various card types like units, legends, champions, spells, gears, runes, and battlegrounds.
A boxed set called Riftbound: Proving Grounds will also be released. This is a boxed set designed for 2-4 players and features Lux, Annie, Master Yi, and Garen.
Of course, booster packs will be available at launch. These will have 14 cards of varying rarities.
We didn’t get aconcrete release window, unfortunately.
Where can you play Riftbound?
According to Riot, fans will be able to demo and check out decks at some of the upcoming Riot Games and tabletop events.
