Available this week from Apple, Amazon, Target, and Best Buy is a new wireless controller for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that was created by Duo Games and Gameloft. Upon docking your device, you can connect theDuo Gamervia Bluetooth to play titles with six buttons and dual analog sticks or a d-pad.

Given the collaboration, it only makes sense that this would come out of the gate with support for apps likeAsphalt 7: Heat,Order & Chaos Online, andN.O.V.A. 3, but according to the press release, “Duo Gamer works exclusively with a number of popular Gameloft titles.” Kills the mood a bit, huh?

Perhaps I’m severely underestimating the demand for Gameloft’s library on iOS to be playable with a physical gamepad, but the more I think about the device, the less I “get” it. Especially given its $79.99 price tag. Then again, they are getting placement in exactly the kind of stores I’d expect this type of product to perform well at.
