PC players ofPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundshave a lot to be happy about, such as the forthcoming update that’ll allowplayers to choose the mapthey want to play on. But, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to disappoint the battle royale game’s players. As part of an incoming weapon balance patch, level 3 helmets will become part of care packages only.
Of course, this patch will be tested first, so it may still be some time before it goes live.PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsplayers may want to enjoy the level 3 helmet while they can, as it is still currently on the normal loot spawn tables. The weapon patch will be balancing more than just the helmets, but check outPUBG’s explanation of the removal:

“Finally, expect some changes to the level three helmet. It’s a game-changing item that can impact the outcome of a match—basically, it gives you an extra life in situations where a headshot would otherwise kill you. We don’t want luck alone to determine who gets items like this, so we’re removing it from the normal loot spawn tables and limiting it to care packages only.”
While the helmet change may be somewhat disappointing to some players,PUBGdid mention a few other balances in the patch. It will also be nerfing ARs, as they are the most used gun, andPUBGdoesn’t want any weapon type to reign over the others. It also seems the game will soon be offering a wider array of weapon attachments to counteract any single attachment being objectively better than the others.
When the patch goes live, it’ll be interesting to see how the changes affect the metagame. Players could also expect some changes to the loot boxes, as theNetherlands Gaming Authorityis rumored to have recently declaredPUBG’susage of loot boxes unlawful.PUBGis a constantly changing game, and the upcoming patches and changes are evidence of that.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsis available now on Android, iOS, PC, and through early access on Xbox One.
