New screenshots

Hinterland has come out with what it’s calling the first in-game screenshots for its first-person survival gameThe Long Dark. If that’s the case, what were those images we saw before, exactly?

No matter. This is a game which may not push the envelope in terms of visual fidelity but it still manages to show well thanks to its art direction. The night sky shown above is going to look marvelous in motion, I’m willing to bet, and that screenshot with the fire is also quite nice.

If you’re not up to speed onThe Long Dark, I’d suggest reading the admittedly rather denseabout pageon the game’s website. There are a number of concepts at work here and I’m hopeful they’ll come together in a cohesive way. The development talent is certainly in place.
