EDITOR’S NOTE, 12/4/23 at 9:59 p.m.:Blizzard announced via Blue Post that they’ve removed raid requirement as part of the process for getting the rune. “It wasn’t our original intent for discoveries to take you into raid instances. Now, the enemies needed for completion of a prerequisite quest for a rune are both in the outdoor world and inside the raid.“See below for the updated step.

Available to both factions and across all races, there’s multiple avenues to getting the Warlock Metamorphosis Rune for tanking in WoW Classic. Here’s the short version:
Long-winded? Absolutely. However, the Warlock tanking rune is absolutely a class-changer. Equipping the Metamorphosis rune changes all of your core abilities, including Searing Pain, Shadow Bolt, Fear, and more.
And while it may feel like getting this rune only once you’re max level feels like a waste, allow us to posit the following. First, remember that there are multiple phases to Season of Discovery coming. Secondly, isn’t the thing that players complain about Retail WoW is that the quests are no longer complicated slogs that take hours of work and send you traipsing across the entire globe?
