Even more wizards and legends

The spellcasting rogueliteWizard of Legendis getting a sequel.Wizard of Legend IIis a follow-up to 2018’sWizard of Legend, and it’s shifting from 2D to 3D.

Announced during today’s Humble Games Showcase 2023,Wizard of Legend IIis being published by Humble and developed by Dead Mage, the studio behindChildren of Morta. The publisher confirmed during today’s showcase thatWizard of Legendis now a Humble-owned IP. OriginalWizard of Legenddeveloper Contingent99 is “on board” and consulting on the project, according to Humble.

Wizard of Legend 2

One big difference betweenWizard of Legend IIand its predecessor is in their style. While you still have the robed rogue mage look, the sequel is opting for an overhead 3D view rather than the pixel 2D style from the first.

It sounds like other elements remain similar, though. Up to four players can hop in, maintaining the co-op appeal of the firstWizard of Legend. It’s a roguelite adventure, with plenty of spell combinations to explore and interactions to discover. The adventure seems to evolve each time, so it’s once again aiming for a run-based dungeon dive.

Becoming legend

There’s no planned release date at this point in time, just a confirmation that it’s in development anda Steam page. I did like the originalWizard of Legend, so I’m curious to see what Dead Mages makes with the franchise.

I’m also curious to see what Contingent99 could get up to, as well. As much as I like a new take on theWizard of Legend, Contingent99’s action and art were a solid mix. I’m hopeful that team’s got something in the works, too.
